El pasado viernes catamos Juan de Juanes Petit Verdot 2018 de Bodegas La Viña. Hablar de Juan de Juanes es hablar de uno de los vinos más icónicos de la Font de la Figuera. Se elabora en Bodegas la Viña, del grupo Anecoop, a las que pertenecen también Reymos en Cheste y Bodegas San Martin en Navarra.
Durante muchos años, Juan de Juanes fue una marca que se utilizaba exclusivamente para la exportación. Hasta que, en 2010, decidieron replantear la marca a nivel técnico y estratégico, dando lugar a los vinos que conocemos hoy.
Las vendimias de Juan de Juanes
Actualmente, podemos encontrar tres niveles dentro de la marca Juan de Juanes.
- Vendimia oro: vinos fermentados en barrica
- Vendimia plata: vinos con un paso por barrica
- Vendimia bronce: vinos jóvenes
La nueva gama Juan de Juanes, presenta unos vinos de gran calidad, al alcance de la mano del consumidor habitual de vino. El caso de este Petit Verdot vendimia plata 2018 que catamos el pasado viernes, es un vino muy bien trabajado desde el campo. Se trata de una variedad foránea, muy bien adaptada al cultivo de secano y que alcanza una madurez muy buena en los viñedos del Vall dels Alforins, donde se cultivan los viñedos de Bodegas La Viña y que fueron los primeros que comenzaron a experimentar con Petit Verdot en la zona.

El gran pintor Juan de Juanes, nacido en la Font de la Figuera en 1523, está considerado el creador de la iconografía religiosa del Renacimiento español. Bodegas La Viña quiso rendirle homenaje asociando a su nombre su vino más icónico.

La madera que se usa es de segundo año, por eso no marca, sino que ayuda a evolucionar al vino, redondeándolo y ofreciendo un paladar suave y delicioso.
